CLGT is seeking a linguist to provide interpretation, transcription and translation to support critical mission needs of the National Media Exploitation Center, Language Serviced contract.  Work will be mainly performed in the Northern Virginia area; however, functions may need to be performed at off-site locations throughout, as well as potential short-term temporary assignments worldwide, including harsh environments.  This position is for a current opportunity.

Principal Duties & Required Skills

  • Provide professional level translations, gists, and summaries of a wide range of general and technical materials;
  • Maintain the integrity and meaning of the material through translations;
  • Translate general and technical material to and from a Target Language and English;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of IC transliteration guidelines and directives as appropriate for languages written in other scripts;
  • Perform research to better understand and convey context and meaning of technical and other domain specific translations;
  • Use SDL TRADOS translation memory and terminology management capabilities to accomplish translation assignments;
  • Create, develop, and share resources/terminology with team members to improve overall quality of documents;
  • Upon receipt of documents, provide accurate estimates to workflow team regarding the amount of time required to accomplish translations and other tasks;
  • Communicate with workflow team to identify any issues with meeting deadlines or quality standard as early as possible in the translation process;
  • Notify project management team of any additional resources needed to perform translations adequately (additional dictionaries, tools, etc.);
  • Possess a working knowledge of NMEC SOPs and standards for translation

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess a TS/SCI clearance
  • SDL Certification for linguists Level 1: Understanding of the basic translation functions of SDL Trados Studio required after security approval, prior to beginning work on the contract;
  • Demonstrate at least 5 years of translation experience;
  • Demonstrate translation experience in at least one specialized domain;
  • Possess strong online and general research skills;
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university;
  • Score a minimum level 3+ according to ILR scale for certain language testing
  • Possess professional level communication and technical skills in order to be accepted as candidates and perform the various roles on this contract; personnel shall be able to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Experience in word processing, typing, editing, and using office machines;
  • Shall possess a working knowledge of the U.S. Intelligence Community and/or military services
  • Shall have the physical and mental capacity to function in a high operational tempo and in crisis situations;
  • Familiar with translation industry standards and best practices for translation, either through formal training, or membership in professional translation organizations;
  • Shall possess solid time-management and organizational skills, to effectively handle multiple tasks under pressure within a fast-paced environment
